Retractable Skylight, also known as overlapping sliding skylights, feature multiple window panels that overlap vertically. Multiple sets of panels slide horizontally along a single track; when opened, the glass panels stack on top of one another and retract to one end, creating a large opening; When closed, they unfold sequentially to cover the entire opening; once open, the window panels overlap,
taking up no vertical space indoors. They are commonly used in sunrooms, sunken courtyards, and basement light wells.
Typically, 3–5 panels per set; the recommended width for a single panel is ≤1500 mm, and the maximum length is ≤2000 mm; for extra-large ceiling areas, panels can be flexibly arranged in a row.
The profiles are designed with overlapping grooves at varying heights and dual-layer drainage channels; EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) sealing strips are installed at the overlaps.
Common causes of leaks: drainage channels clogged with leaves and dust; insufficient roof slope;
It is recommended to maintain a height difference of 150–200 mm between the front and back of the roof to ensure gravity drainage.
Under normal conditions, the pulleys and drive components can be opened and closed more than 40,000 times; the motor is covered by a 2-year warranty, and the aluminum profile frame is covered by a 10-year warranty.
When connected to an external rain and wind sensor, the system automatically shuts off when a rain signal is detected; temperature sensors and smoke detectors can also be installed to trigger the system’s activation in conjunction with the factory’s fire suppression and smoke exhaust systems.
1. Clean fallen leaves and silt from the tracks and drainage channels every six months;
2. Lubricate the roller tracks;
3. Check the sealing strips at the joints for cracks;
4. Tighten the screws securing the motor and pulleys.
