01. Site Survey & Client Requirements
The project site is a private rear garden with a rectangular in-ground pool, light-colored paving and adjacent planting beds. The homeowner wanted a protective enclosure that would keep the pool cleaner while remaining visually low and fully retractable.
- Dust and debris control: Open water was exposed to wind-blown soil, leaves and garden debris.
- Short outdoor swimming season: The client wanted better protection during colder shoulder seasons.
- Low-profile appearance: The enclosure height needed to remain below approximately 1.1 m to preserve garden sightlines.
- Full pool clearance: The complete 7.0 m basin needed to open fully in warm weather.
- Fast operation: The client required remote-controlled motorized opening and closing.
02. Conceptual Design & 3D BIM Modelling
SUNRAY developed a compact four-bay curved telescopic enclosure designed to stay visually low while providing full pool coverage.
2.1 Low-Profile Curved Geometry
The enclosure rises to only 1,000 mm, comprising an 800 mm vertical wall and a 200 mm curved roof rise. The compact form reduces visual impact and creates a smooth roof profile for rain, dust and snow runoff.
2.2 Four-Bay Cascading Telescopic Movement
The four modules nest sequentially on stepped tracks. Their widths reduce progressively so each bay can slide beneath the larger preceding bay.
2.3 100% Open-Pool Mode
A 2,000 mm track extension behind the pool allows the stacked modules to park completely beyond the basin, restoring open-air swimming.
03. Shop Drawings & Dimensional Coordination
Approved production drawings established the track length, stepped module widths, low-profile section and rear parking extension before fabrication.
- Total track baseline: 9,000 mm
- Pool coverage span: 7,000 mm
- Rear parking extension: 2,000 mm
- Clear retracted opening: 6,698 mm
- Outer leading module width: 4,180 mm
- Second module width: 3,670 mm
- Inner clear span: 3,500 mm
- Maximum height: 1,000 mm
- Vertical wall height: 800 mm
- Curved roof rise: 200 mm
04. Precision Manufacturing & Factory Quality Control
Manufacturing focused on the stepped multi-track system, drainage paths, roller interfaces and durable architectural finishing.
4.1 Multi-Cavity Guide Tracks & Structural Profiles
The source documents 6063-T6 aluminum multi-track floor sills, perimeter profiles and curved frame members with reinforced internal cavities.
4.2 CNC Machining
Automated machining was used for mounting pockets, drainage slots and roller-track details required by the telescopic system.
4.3 Architectural White Finish
The aluminum components received a white / light-gray fluorocarbon architectural finish for outdoor exposure and visual integration with the courtyard.
05. 1:1 Factory Trial Pre-Assembly & Kinematic Testing
Before shipment, SUNRAY completed trial assembly and operational testing of the retractable system on calibrated factory jigs.
5.1 Track Alignment & Four-Bay Nesting
- The 9.0 m track baseline was checked for parallelism and diagonal squareness.
- All four modules were tested for smooth progressive nesting from 4,180 mm to 3,670 mm and 3,500 mm widths.
- Clearances were checked to prevent profile interference during retraction.
5.2 Motor Synchronization & Weather Seals
- Electric drive units were cycled repeatedly to confirm synchronized operation.
- The source records a complete opening / closing cycle of approximately two minutes.
- EPDM sweep-gasket contact was checked along overlapping module interfaces.
06. Export Packaging & Cross-Border Logistics
After factory testing, the structural modules, tracks and polycarbonate panels were protected for cross-border transport to Kazakhstan.
- Aluminum extrusions were cushioned with foam and protective film.
- Disassembled modules and glazing components were packed in reinforced export plywood crates.
- Crates were secured for international rail and truck freight to Kazakhstan.
07. On-Site Installation in Kazakhstan
After delivery, the prefabricated enclosure was assembled around the existing pool using the prepared track layout.
7.1 Ground Track Installation & Laser Leveling
The 9,000 mm guide tracks were laid along the pool coping and extended 2,000 mm onto the rear patio, then aligned for level and parallelism.
7.2 Module Assembly & Polycarbonate Installation
The four pre-machined modules were assembled on the guide tracks and fitted with UV-resistant polycarbonate glazing.
7.3 Motor Wiring & Calibration
The electric drive was connected to the control system and calibrated for smooth remote-controlled opening and closing.
08. Final Handover & Residential Use
The completed system provides a low-profile protective enclosure that can convert quickly between covered and fully open pool conditions.
- Dust protection: The closed enclosure helps reduce soil, leaves and wind-blown debris entering the water.
- Low visual profile: The 1,000 mm height preserves open courtyard sightlines.
- Full pool clearance: The four modules can park on the rear extension, leaving the 7.0 m basin open.
- Fast operation: Remote-controlled opening or closing is completed in approximately two minutes according to the project source.
- Seasonal flexibility: The enclosure supports protected use in cooler or dusty conditions and open-air swimming in summer.
09. Application Scenarios
The same low-profile telescopic enclosure concept can be adapted to other residential and hospitality pool sites where dust control, compact height and full retraction are priorities.
- Dust-prone residential courtyard pools
- Low-profile garden pool enclosures
- Continental-climate villa pools
- Hospitality pools requiring fully retractable seasonal protection
